Tom Platero is appointed as the first Division Director for Navajo Division of Transportation.  Tom was born and raised on the Navajo Nation. His clans are Tachii’ nii (Red Running into the Water) born for To baazhni’ azhi (Two Who Came to Water). Since joining Transportation, he has worked to expand transportation services for the Navajo People.  A primary initiative of his has been to merge today’s technological advancements while respecting Tribal traditions.  It is a daunting task at times, given the Native community’s respect for Mother Earth.  Road development typically involves disturbance of many natural elements.  As he looks to the future of Navajo DOT, Tom is making a commitment to provide accountability and transparency in the provision of services.
